There are several options available when it comes to moving or copying a database from one version of SQL Server to another. We recommend using the “Backup and Restore” method to move the databases. This method will ensure the database structure remains intact as it should and will minimize the potential for data loss or other unexpected changes.
Since CAS does not manage your SQL Server, you will need to consult with your Database Administrator to help facilitate the database move. A DBA will have the expertise required to properly backup and restore the necessary database to the newer version of SQL Server.
Finally, after the databases are moved, be sure to update the database compatibility version to match the version of SQL Server you have upgraded to. For example, if you are upgrading to SQL Server 2008 from SQL Server 2000, be sure to update each database’s compatibility version to SQL 2008. This will ensure toxiCALL® is able to utilize the latest features. If there is a specific reason you cannot update the database compatibility, please contact CAS support for further discussion.
