This document details the necessary steps to get your network database and users configured to use SQL Server. Here you will find step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish this. It should be a fairly straightforward process and this document will guide you along the way.
This document assumes that you already have already installed SQL Server on your own. If you need assistance, please see the documentation that was provided by your vendor or consult Microsoft’s website at: http://www.microsoft.com. The examples will use SQL Server 2000 and be geared towards users switching to SQL Server from Microsoft Access. However, this document is also useful in guiding those initially setting up TOXICALL® as a SQL Server network database and those using SQL Server 7.0.
If your center is still considering SQL Server as a viable data collection solution, we strongly encourage you to make the switch. SQL Server is specifically designed to handle higher and faster transaction traffic and much larger data sets than Microsoft Access. SQL Server also implements a different record locking methodology, which allows individual record locks versus locking a range of records. To the user at a call center with a high call volume, this means that TOXICALL® will have overall better performance and a much lower potential for database corruptions. If your center is currently experiencing frequent database corruptions (daily or nearly so) and you are using Access as your network database, SQL Server may be a very good solution for you.
Finally, we would like to thank you for choosing TOXICALL®. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us at 303-680-7774 or by e-mail at support@Toxicall.com.
